Low Carb Diet Plans

The Word “Diet” refers to what a person eats or drinks during the day. Wikipedia states that “In nutrition, diet is the sum of food consumed by a person”. And our body weight is the result of what and how much we eat and drink and the balance between that and how much energy our body uses during the day. Diet should not be considered as a quick meal plan to get drastic results or change rather should be reviewed as a holistic lifestyle approach. So, for maintaining a healthy body and to look good we must follow a proper Diet Plan.

For a diet to be ideal, it must be:

  • Nutritionally balanced, i.e., it must include a wide variety of foods with enough calories and nutrients.
  • Diet Plan should be easy to follow so that one can maintain consistency following it throughout his life.

Nutrition plays a great role in your health. Physical health and mental health. There have been many studies showing there is a link between what we eat and how we feel. Eating well can help you feel better.

As we all know that negligent and mismanaged eating habits lead to the health problem called Obesity, and people are affected by it globally. It is the major cause of diseases like diabetes, heart attack, different types of cancer, osteoarthritis, etc. Hence, a suitable diet plan will play a vital role to escape from Obesity and reduce risks from other problems and will also help you take responsibility for your own health and take control of your life. Some believe that what we eat reflects the love we have for ourselves, so eating well is a present we give to our loved self.

Low carbohydrate or Low Carb Diet is a diet with less assemblage of carbohydrates with an increased proportion of protein and fat. It is recommended to people who are obese and diabetic, with high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, and hypoglycemia. Excess intake of carbohydrates results in weight gain because it allows the body to produce and release high amounts of insulin, resulting in high blood pressure, which damages blood vessels by raising the level of triglycerides which is a fat present in the blood and it lowers HDL cholesterol level that protects against heart diseases.

A low-carb diet focuses on limited carbohydrates to help the body burn fat instead of sugar for fuel. This contributes to higher, consistent energy levels throughout the day, allowing you to reach weight loss and weight maintenance goals.

Moreover, a low-carb diet is beneficial as it promotes the decreased amount of insulin production and allows the consumption of fat as an energy source.

Various components of low-carb diets are saturated fat like stearic acid found in beef and other fats including coconut oil, olive oil, butter, cheese, lard, fish oil, tallow, palm kernel oil, peanut oil, and flaxseed oil with unlimited amounts of meat, the limited amount of green vegetables can be taken, with a good supplement of vitamin and minerals.

Here are some of the more popular low-carb eating diets:

  • Keto (Ketogenic ) diet: The ketogenic diet is a very low-carb, high-fat diet. It can lower blood sugar and insulin levels and shifts the body’s metabolism away from carbs and toward fat and ketones.
  • Atkins diet: This is a popular low-carbohydrate diet plan developed in the 1960s. The Atkins Diet restricts carbs while focusing on protein and fats and has several phases for weight loss and maintenance.
  • South Beach diet: In addition to reducing carb intake, the South Beach diet encourages lean meats and heart-healthy fats. During the initial phase, grains and fruits are also off-limits. However, these foods are gradually added back into the diet during the second and third phases of the plan.
  • Paleo diet: Designed to mimic the eating patterns of our hunter-gatherer ancestors, the Paleo diet encourages foods like meats, fruits, and vegetables. The paleo diet isn’t intended to be a low-carb diet, but it’s naturally low in carbs as it eliminates many carb-rich foods, including grains, legumes, and dairy products.
  • Dukan diet: The Dukan diet is a restrictive, low-carb diet that’s high in protein and low in fat. It encourages “pure protein” like lean meats. It’s divided into four phases designed to help you reach your weight loss goals.

There is no one diet that fits all, so you should try to find the best diet plan that fits your needs and lifestyle and try it out for a while seeing if it fits. the first step is usually the hardest and choosing one diet plan even if it’s not the perfect one is still better than no doing anything and keeping the bad eating habits. any diet you will eventually choose, your body and overall feeling will improve.
